This book is a personal narrative of Nanda P. Wanasundaras recollections and anecdotes of what life in the village was like. She has provided a lager canvas as backdrop to these memories by including chapters on Kandyan culture ranging from dancing to crafts to architecture.
She has attempted to pin point distinct features of life in the Kandyan province; its history it touched upon; Kandyan identity defined and its emergence traced; unique features such as the caste hierarchy and Kandyan laws of marriage are included.
Thus what is presented is a deeply personal glimpse of a way of life that has almost wholly disappeared.
