Watakiya Leaf Bags by Mihiri Devendra
Watakiya Leaf Bags are crafted from the leaves of the pandan plant, also known as the Watakiya plant. These bags are handmade by a group of ladies in Bentota, the leaves are harvested from their own cultivation, striped and boiled and then left to dry under the sun.
If colour is needed, the dried leaves are dipped in nontoxic dyes, then made into beautiful and sturdy bags.
The printed cotton used as the bags lining, is sourced from local shops. These bags have been made with love and make the perfect souvenir to rememberyourtravelsby.
