Potassium Iodide may be used to maintain beneficial and protective levels of Iodine in the thyroid gland. Iodide is readily taken up by the thyroid gland and may assist the body's detoxification process. KI (potassium iodide) is a salt of stable (not radioactive) iodine that can help block radioactive iodine from being absorbed by the thyroid gland, thus protecting this gland from radiation injury. The thyroid gland is the part of the body that is most sensitive to radioactive iodine.
IMPORTANT: Never use pure Potassium Iodide in powder form, must dilute 5g with minimum 200ml of distilled water. Store solution in a dark bottle, and it will typically remain stable for 2-6 months.
